Which areas it covers
Employment tribunals in England and Wales are divided into ten regions. The judiciary says the regional office that deals with a case is usually the one nearest to where the claimant worked.
There is no official town-by-town list of which areas are sent to Newcastle. Your claim acknowledgement and hearing notice will confirm where your case is heard. See also our Leeds Employment Tribunal guide.

What to expect on the day
- The public entrance has a ramp, and lifts reach all public floors.
- Hearing enhancement facilities (for hearing aids set to ‘T’) are in all hearing rooms.
- You and your bags will be searched on entry, through a security arch. Tell security staff if you have a pacemaker.
- There are public toilets and accessible toilets on every floor, and water dispensers on all floors.
- There are thirty interview rooms. They cannot be booked, so they are first come, first served.

True of every employment tribunal
- Arrive 30 minutes before the time on your hearing letter. Do not arrive much earlier, as you may be turned away at busy times.
- If you need support, bring only one person, such as a friend or family member.
- You will go through a security arch or a hand-held scanner, and your bags will be checked. Tell security staff if you have a medical implant such as a pacemaker.
- Turn your phone off before you go into the hearing room. Taking photos or video of a hearing is a criminal offence. You can use a laptop or tablet, but there may be nowhere to charge it.
- A hearing can be changed to video at short notice, or you may be asked to wait at the venue until a room and a judge are free (this is called “floating”).

While you wait: current waiting times
The Employment Tribunals President publishes waiting-time figures for England and Wales in the minutes of the National User Group. They are given by region, and GOV.UK does not say which region Newcastle hearings belong to, so we give the national picture. As at the end of March 2026:
- Hearings of 1 day: most regions were listing these into the second half of 2026.
- Hearings of 2 days: the majority of regions could hear these in 2026.
- Longer hearings: waiting times varied more from region to region, from 2026 in Wales to 2029 in London South.
These are official figures, but they change. Your own hearing date will be on your notice. Many cases have preliminary hearings first. For the wider picture, read how long tribunals take.
Before your hearing: a checklist
- Follow every order the tribunal has sent you and keep to its dates. If you need more time, ask the tribunal and give your reason.
- Make sure the documents are in one page-numbered, indexed bundle. See our guide to how to prepare your tribunal bundle.
- Exchange witness statements by the date ordered. See our witness statement guide.
- Check your witnesses can attend. Making sure they do is your job.
- Print your own copies. The tribunal will not photocopy documents for you.
- Pack your hearing letter with the case number, your papers, water and something to eat.
- If you need reasonable adjustments, ask for them before the day.
- Check the night before whether your hearing has been changed to video.
All our venue guides are in the tribunal finder.
